Why will you warn our Filipino Fishermen to avoid our own West Philippine Sea?
I’m glad that this is already in the media.
The leader of the Scarborough Shoal Fishermen whom I just met in Manila recently after my invitation, confided this to me, and that they were ordered not to talk in the media or to anybody. And now this is no secret anymore.
Mr. Yasay, do you know the effect of this order to our fishermen?
You just completely removed all their rights to fish in our own sea resulting to a devastation of their livelihood which tremendously affected their children and families as well as their communities.
Instead of empowering them, you made them scared, and lost their freedom to talk. They are so tired of all the people who talk to them and make documentary about them but there was no single help or assistance rendered or provided to them, according to the fishermen leader.
On June 22, 2016, the National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea organized the victory rally for the West Philippine Sea at Masinloc, Zambales, in anticipation of the UN Permanent Court of Arbitration ( PCA) decision.
During the program, the Call for Action message of the Founder and Global Chair of the National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea ( NYMWPS), Dr. Celia Lamkin, was read by NYMWPS National chair, Sir Gerald Miranda declaring and affirming the Coalition of the NYMWPS with all the fishermen of the Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc to empower, support, help and assist them , and to develop the Scarborough Shoal.
This Coalition has been strengthened during our recent NYMWPS meeting in Manila which was attended by NYMWPS Global chair, NYMWPS Deputy Global Chair based in Las Vegas ( via phone call) , NYMWPS EUROPE regional chair, NYMWPS National chair PHIL and other officers and advisors in the Philippines and representative from Kalayaan Island Group in Palawan, Philippines and Scarborough Shoal fishermen from Masinloc, Zamabales.
The NYMWPS is very serious in our commitment to help our fishermen in the Scarborough Shoal as well as our people in Pagasa Island and the rest of the Kalayaan Island Group , and of course to assert our rights to what is OURS, and Scarborough Shoal is OURS!
This is within our NYMWPS mission and goals.
You may visit our website at www. nymwps. org to see our mission and goals and other activities we have done for the sake of our beloved Motherland, the Philippines and the Filipino people.
Mabuhay ang Mangingisda ng Scarborough Shoal!
Mabuhay ang mga Kababayan natin sa Kalayaan Islands at ang mga sundalo natin sa lahat ng Isla sa Kalayaan Islands for their patriotism and heroism!
God bless the Philippines and the Filipino people!
God bless us all.
